Trump should be banned from Canada: Jagmeet Singh

Ottawa: The leader of Canada's opposition NDP (National Democratic Party), Khalistani sympathizer Jagmeet Singh, on Wednesday, speaking at the Material Council on Foreign Relations, referred to U.S. President Trump as a criminal. He demanded that Trump be banned from entering Canadian territory for the G7 summit. He cited the previous criminal determination against Trump and his threats to countries around the world as reasons for the demand.

Why should we allow him into our country? I believe Trump should be prohibited from participating in the G7 summit. He should not be invited here. Why should we allow a person who has been criminally convicted into our country? Why should we allow someone who has become a threat to our democracy, sovereignty, economy, our allies, and the world? Today's meeting is about how to stop Donald Trump, Singh said. He urged the Canadian government and allied nations to use the G7 platform to stop Trump. He suggested forming a coalition with like-minded countries such as Mexico, New Zealand, and Australia to oppose him. He also stated that the NDP supports strengthening the Canadian military with advanced weapons.

So far, the Canadian government has not responded to Singh's statement. A spokesperson for the Prime Minister's office, Simon Lafarchu, revealed that they would not be commenting on this. Meanwhile, Minister of Energy Jonathan Wilkinson said there was little substance in Jagmeet's proposal. He further remarked that they would hire new advisors to offer better guidance. He also said that much of Trump's comments made him angry, but at the same time, suggested looking for ways to cooperate. "We cannot go off and sail to another place. They are our neighbors. We must move forward together," he stated. The G7 summit will take place in Alberta from June 15 to 17.
